The Cryotherapy Room

The Cryotherapy Room is a new feature at Ashfield Physiotherapy Ltd. Providing innovative localised cryotherapy treatment along with RecoveryPump compression therapy, the facility supplements our physiotherapy care with the most up to date medical devices promoting enhanced training recovery whilst reducing pain, inflammation and muscle fatigue.

Localised Cryotherapy

Cryotherapy is a treatment that exposes the body to sub-zero temperatures through cryogenically cooled air. The treatment reduces the skin temperature to below 10 degrees Celsius to achieve thermic shock which creates vasoconstriction, followed by vasodilation. This is known as cryostimulation, activating the body's natural defence mechanism, releasing endorphins, boosting circulation and increasing metabolic rate that subsequently stimulates physiological responses to aid repair and recovery. Localised Cryotherapy differs from the whole body chambers by targeting specific injury problem areas and injury sites. This ensures the delivery of safe controlled treatment with only minimal contraindications to it's use.

RecoveryPump Compression Therapy

The clinic provides a pair of lower limb recovery boots that inflate sequentially to produce a staged compression effect on the lower limb. The treatment helps to promote circulation and stimulate lymphatic drainage. These effects have been clinically proven to substantially reduce muscle fatigue whilst also showing beneficial effects on reducing DOMS, reducing blood pressure and accelerating recovery.

This piece of equipment provides an intense percussion massage that can be used to target specific areas of muscular tension, helping to reduce muscular spasm and pain.
